𝗔 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗮 𝗡𝗮̃𝗼, 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺 𝗡𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃, 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲́ 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗹 Post-Death Experience in the 12th edition of Old Baths!
From June to September, the old Caldas das Taipas Thermal Building, in Guimarães hosts concerts, cinemas, gatherings, lectures, and theaters. workshops, guided visits and educational services. The agenda includes more than two dozen initiatives with entries. free.
In music, the highlights are the shows by Surma and Mira Quebec with Diogo M. in June. In July, there's the José Pinhal Post-Mortem Experience show, followed by a DJ set by António Bandeiras DJ. August is marked by the return of First Breath After Coma and Noiserv, in a unique moment where they perform together, and also the traditional Fado Night with the Vila Fado Group. Finally, September features the debut of A garota não, on the Banhos Velhos stage, closing this 2023 music season.
The program also includes a series of educational service activities. The Creative Writing Workshop for students of the Caldas das Taipas Secondary School, scheduled for May 23rd, marks the beginning of the season. In June, the History Gatherings return to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the "New Baths," with a children's workshop for preschool children.
Throughout the four-month program, educational initiatives include Educational Guided Tours in June, an Astronomy Night in July, and another meeting in September. Also in September, concluding the program, a new children's workshop and a Night Guided Tour of the Old Baths are scheduled.
Theater returns to the cultural agenda of Banhos Velhos after a three-year absence. The GTAC - Grupo de Teatro Amador de Campelos presents "Dois Tempos" in July, while the ATRAMA theater group closes the program with "Aquistas," a performative "in situ" experience inspired by the memories of Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso during his stay at the thermal spa of Caldas das Taipas, in celebration of the 125th anniversary of "Banhos Novos."
Cinema also makes its mark with the first screening in July, featuring the filming of "Everything, Everywhere, the Same Time" by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, winner of the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Director in 2023. In August, Steven Spielberg's "The Fabelmans," Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale," and Charlotte Wells' "Aftersun" complete the film cycle.
