Captain Faust, Best Youth, Moulinex, Corona Set, Zen and MACHINE. in the 13th edition of the Old Baths - Taipas Thermal
From May to September, the Caldas das Taipas Cultural Museum in Guimarães hosts concerts, film screenings, discussions, lectures, theatre performances, children's workshops, guided tours, and educational programs.
The music scene in June features DJ sets by Best Youth and Moullinex , followed by performances by ZEN and @MÁQUINA in July. The following month, in August, Conjunto Corona presents their latest album and the traditional Fado Night with the Vila Fado Group. To close out the 2024 music season, in September, the highly anticipated return of Capitão Fausto to Caldas das Taipas will take place.
In the realm of cinema, the cultural season features the films "Perfect Days," "Anatomy Of A Fall," "Past Lives," and "The Iron Claw," which will be shown in the now-customary outdoor screenings on summer evenings.
Educational service initiatives will also be present with Educational Guided Tours, an Astronomy Night, a Ceramics Workshop, a Creative Writing Workshop, two Children's Workshops and also a Night Guided Tour of the Old Baths and New Baths.
Also noteworthy are two discussions related to film and music, the first of which, in June, will focus on "The Importance of Soundtracks in Cinema," and will feature film director Rodrigo Areias, Vitor Ribeiro from the Joane Film Club, and Hugo Gomes, a member of Sensible Soccers, as guests.
In July, and accompanied by an inauguration, the second conversation will take place, this time focusing on the mythical and defunct N101 concert bar. Concluding the cycle will be the return of the historical gatherings, where photographic records and representations of Taipas in Portuguese literature from the 19th and 20th centuries will be revisited.
Finally, in July, the GTAC – Grupo de Teatro Amador de Campelos, one of the most recognized amateur theater groups in the municipality of Guimarães, will present the play "O Conquistador," and, closing the season, the ATRAM A theater group will present the play "5 em 1."
All initiatives within the program have free admission.
