The Taipas Turitermas Cooperative has signed a Financing Contract with the Management Authority of the Northern Regional Operational Program (ON.2) for the refurbishment of the new bathhouse building and the construction of a new physiotherapy center. Last Thursday, the Taipas Turitermas Cooperative signed a Financing Contract with the Managing Authority of the Northern Regional Operational Programme (ON.2), within the framework of Priority Axis II, Economic Valorisation of Specific Resources, "for the Refurbishment of the New Baths Building and construction of the new physiotherapy centre". The project, budgeted at €3,150,133.14, received co-financing from the ERDF up to a maximum amount of €1,361,812.25, with the remaining expenses necessary for the full execution of the Operation being covered by the Jessica Programme, which establishes very favorable financing conditions for the Cooperative.
The work, which began in June 2014, will be completed in the beginning of the second half of 2015 and aims to upgrade the thermal tourism product of Taipas and expand the health services offered, particularly in terms of rehabilitation of existing facilities at that unit. This upgrade also allows for the preservation and enhancement of one of the most emblematic buildings in the village of Taipas and, in the words of the President of the Board, will have a very positive effect on the local economy. Ricardo Costa stated that “this strategy of revitalizing the Taipas thermal resort, in conjunction with what the Municipality is doing and will continue to do in the village, will have a huge impact on people's lives. These interventions will create new jobs, directly and indirectly, attract more visitors and tourists, and improve the quality of life for those who live in the village of Taipas. The President of the Board, who is also a Councillor of the Guimarães City Council, has no doubt that the work carried out by Taipas Termal “enhances the tourism value of the village of Taipas and complements the tourism offer of the Municipality of Guimarães.”
