The cultural agenda for the first two months of programming is marked by ten events that include concerts, theater, lectures, and presentations, among other activities, thus marking the return of cultural activity to the former thermal spa area of Caldas das Taipas.

In May, the doors to culture reopen at Banhos Velhos. The 2016 cultural season will run until September, but for now, Taipas Termal, the cooperative that manages this space dedicated to culture, is publicizing the first two months.

In an eclectic cultural agenda, the first event of May will take place on the 6th with a conversation about the village of Caldas das Taipas, in partnership with the Reflexo newspaper. This will be followed by a children's workshop with a tribal mask-making workshop and, to end the month, a weekend dedicated to new music from Guimarães: on May 27th there will be a special broadcast of the program Português Suave, from the studios of Rádio Universitária do Minho, which will feature musicians and cultural figures from the city of Guimarães, with the purpose of discussing the new musical and artistic movement that has been happening in the city in recent times; on May 28th, Paraguaii and Toulouse, two of the most important musical projects in the current Guimarães music scene, will take the stage.

In June, the month begins as May ends, with a concert, this time a fado night, a tradition in this venue from previous years. On stage will be the Fado Group “Da Vila”, composed of musicians from the town and the Guimarães municipality in general, who will present a wide range of fado classics live. On June 11th, theatre performances return to Banhos Velhos with the play “Plágio”, presented by the theatre group d’A Oficina, from Guimarães. On the 18th, the second children's workshop will take place, this time with a stamp-making workshop, and there will be a presentation of the book “Guimarães Top-Secret – Segredos de Guimarães”, by Samuel Silva and José Caldeira. To end June in the best way, on June 25th the first session of the Portuguese Language Course will take place, in partnership with Livraria Snob. This will be the first of two sessions.

Even before the official opening of the Banhos Velhos' activity season, this space, in partnership with the Núcleo de Estudos 25 de Abril (April 25th Studies Center), will host the show "Voices in Freedom" on April 24th at 10 PM in the Multipurpose Hall of the Caldas das Taipas Secondary School, to mark the 42nd anniversary of the April 25th Revolution. The event will feature a performance by the Coro Allegretus (Santo Adrião Cultural and Social Center) and the Orchestra of the Vizela Music Academy. The event is free.

All details about the events in the cultural program can be found on the official Facebook page of Banhos Velhos at facebook.com/banhosvelhos or on the official website of Taipas Termal, in the Banhos Velhos presentation section.
