The current sports court will be replaced by a multi-sports court where equipment to support sports activities will be installed. The intervention in the Leisure Park includes the construction of changing rooms, restrooms, a sports equipment storage area, and other facilities.
With this major intervention, the Caldas das Taipas Campsite will remain open throughout the year, boosting tourism and stimulating the local economy.
Work is currently underway at the Caldas das Taipas Leisure Park, in a project developed by the Taipas Turitermas Cooperative, CIPRL, whose general characteristics include the construction of a wooden structure, bathroom facilities, hydraulic, gas, electricity, HVAC, and telecommunications infrastructure, as well as complementary works, with a project execution period of 365 days.
“As a result of this profound intervention, the Camping Park will be open throughout the year, and conditions will be created in this space to provide a continuous response in the tourism sector, in addition to the creation of new jobs, providing greater dynamism to the local economy,” stressed the president of the Turitermas board, Ricardo Costa, also highlighting the improvement of conditions for the practice of sports among the local population, following a strategy outlined by the Municipality of Guimarães, taking into account that the municipality registers high levels of activity in the context of leisure sports, a factor that contributes to expanding the scope of sports practice to a larger segment of the population and thus raising awareness among a growing number of people about healthy lifestyle habits.
The Caldas das Taipas Leisure Park is poised to become the "true lung" of the village, equipped with the best conditions to support the population while maintaining areas of high environmental, cultural, and landscape value, enhancing and rationalizing the existing natural resources.
Taipas Turitermas has based its mission on "creating better conditions for the entire population, through increasing the number of services, renovating and transforming existing spaces, creating jobs and boosting the local economy," emphasized Ricardo Costa, citing as an example the recent renovation of the Thermal Baths and the creation of a Medical Health Clinic. "This project we are currently undertaking in the Leisure Park has a different scope, more focused on leisure, the environment, and also tourism, since it will be possible to attract a greater number of tourists to the village due to the excellent conditions we intend to implement in the Camping area so that it remains open throughout the year, which was not the case until now, even though the greatest demand occurs during the summer period," further highlighted the president of the Turitermas board.
Through this project, which is already underway, the village of Caldas das Taipas aims to establish itself as a partner in Guimarães' bid to become the European Green Capital, through intelligent, inclusive and sustainable growth that enhances its natural heritage.
