The Taipas Termal Cooperative actively collaborated and supported the Foot and Ankle Sports Medicine Course, coordinated by the prestigious orthopedist Hélder Pereira, which brought together a group of trainers that included some of the most renowned doctors in Portugal and the world in this area.
Doctors from all over the country and from various parts of the world received advanced training in ankle and foot surgery. The event took place at the surgical sciences research laboratory of the University of Minho and in the auditorium of Taipas Termal.
Those involved also had contact with the historical heritage of the city of Guimarães, a World Heritage city. This initiative is an example of collaboration between the University and Civil Society, bringing added value and contributing to the improvement of care provided to those who need it most.
This course is integrated into the International Postgraduate Program in the field of surgical science research, directed by Prof. Dr. Jorge Correia Pinto. This program takes place at the Institute for Research in Life and Health Sciences (ICVS) / School of Health Sciences of the University of Minho (ECS – UMinho), in the associated laboratory ICVS/3B's of the University of Minho, chaired by Prof. Rui L. Reis.
According to the president of the board of directors of Taipas Termal, "this type of initiative aligns with a new philosophy that we seek to implement in the structure of Taipas Termal, incorporating the knowledge acquired by health professionals within the excellent conditions we have in our facilities," emphasized Ricardo Costa, making it clear that Taipas Termal "will be a strategic partner in this area, collaborating with the University of Minho, in order to establish a firm position also in the field of health training."
Thus, Taipas Termal is associated with a program that has earned increasing recognition in medical research and development at an international level.
