The doors of the Taipas Thermal Baths have reopened and the new Medical Clinic for Health, Rehabilitation and Sports Conditioning is now available to everyone. The inauguration ceremony took place at the end of the day on September 4, 2015, and was attended by a large number of members of the local community.

“Yes, we did it!”, emphasized Ricardo Costa at the inauguration ceremony, which took place this Friday, September 4th. “Today we present a new project. A project by everyone, with everyone, and for everyone. These were the essential principles that shaped the work that led us here. Today we reopen the doors of the renovated Taipas Thermal Baths and, with great pride, we present the Medical Health Clinic, a vital asset not only for the local community but also for the northern region and the country.”
The President of the Board of Directors of the Thermal Cooperative also stated, “We value our historical heritage. The requalification of this century-old building considered the marks and symbolism inherent in its original construction. A project that combines modernity and contemporary elements with the life of a century-old building, with its history, in a perfect symbiosis. Perfect because the new and the old coexist in a practically imperceptible way, without aesthetically or visually harming the postcard image that this building represents.”
According to Domingos Bragança, Mayor of Guimarães, "The best gift we could give to Caldas das Taipas, on its 75th anniversary of being elevated to town status, is precisely this requalification, this expansion, this significant and expressive improvement of its material infrastructure and its immense possibilities for providing health and leisure services to all our residents of Taipas, to the people of Guimarães, and to our fellow citizens in general."
The Minister of Economy, António Pires de Lima, highlighted the execution of this project as "an example for the country," stating that "it makes perfect sense to have this sense of opportunity to invest in our thermal spas, particularly those with a more significant history, as I know is the case here in Taipas, as a way to enrich our range of services in the areas of wellness, health, and tourism."
