Cooperativa Taipas Turitermas CIPRL highlights the importance of the decision that allows the requalification of two facilities that Vila das Taipas desired and that will be at the service of the associations, the village and the municipality.
At the last session of the Municipal Assembly, an increase in the capital of the Taipas Turitermas CIPRL Cooperative in the amount of 1.6 million euros was approved.
The proposal from the Guimarães City Council aims to finance the renovation of the Camping Park and the Park Sports Complex – a ring. With this refurbishment, the facility will be equipped for sports practice and to support the associations and athletes who also use the leisure park, particularly in athletics and pétanque.
Domingos Bragança, the President of the Guimarães municipality, characterized this investment as strategic for the development of that thermal village and the Guimarães municipality, praising the work of the Board in obtaining community funds and own revenues generated by Taipas Turitermas CIPRL: “The Cooperative made an investment of around 5 million euros and only requested a contribution of 1.6 million euros, which seems reasonable to me. On the other hand, the Cooperative's revenues are growing by 61% this year alone.”
On the sidelines of the meeting, Ricardo Costa, President of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative, explained that this is an important moment for Vila das Taipas, because it represents the unequivocal support of the Municipal Council for the recovery of a fundamental facility: “Despite many political leaders using the Cooperative as a weapon, nothing will divert us from our objectives. This year we continue to grow sustainably and with this increase in capital it is possible to begin the requalification of the sports complex and campsite, which all the residents of Taipas have desired.”
It should be recalled that back in 2015, the Taipas Turitermas CIPRL Cooperative had already renovated and expanded its headquarters building, known as Banhos Novos, which was inaugurated in September. This allowed for the expansion of services provided to the population, namely the thermal baths and spa, the physiotherapy unit contracted with the National Health System, and the soap production unit, a historical icon of the thermal village.
