Construction on the Camping and Sports Park in the Caldas das Taipas Leisure Park began this week, representing "the realization of an ambitious project" that promises to "boost the local economy," says Ricardo Costa.
The "lungs" of the village will be transformed, enhancing its natural heritage as part of a strategy outlined for the municipality within the framework of its bid to become the European Green Capital.
Work is underway at the Camping and Sports Park in Caldas das Taipas, in a project developed by the Taipas Turitermas Cooperative, CIPRL. The current rink will be replaced by a multi-sports area where equipment to support sports activities will be installed. The overall intervention in the Leisure Park includes the construction of changing rooms, toilets, a sports equipment storage area, and more. With this major intervention, the Caldas das Taipas Camping Park will be open all year round, boosting tourism and stimulating the local economy, with a project completion time of 365 days.
The year 2017 promises to be a watershed moment with profound changes being made to the "lungs of Caldas das Taipas". This is the guarantee of Ricardo Costa, as president of the Turitermas board. As a result of this profound intervention, "the campsite will be open all year round and conditions will be created in this space to provide a continuous response in the tourism sector, namely with the excellent caravan park, in addition to the creation of new jobs, providing greater dynamism to the local economy," stressed the president of the Turitermas board.
Ricardo Costa also highlights the improved conditions for practicing sports among the local population, following a strategy outlined by the Municipality of Guimarães, taking into account that the municipality registers high levels of activity in the context of recreational sports, given the investment in the construction of a multi-sports facility that will support institutions in the town of Caldelas and the surrounding area, in addition to serving the local population.
The Caldas das Taipas Leisure Park will be transformed, equipped with the best conditions to support the population while maintaining areas of high environmental, cultural and landscape value, enhancing and rationalizing the natural resources existing there.
The Taipas Turitermas Cooperative has based its mission on "creating better conditions for the entire population, through increasing the number of services, renovating and transforming existing spaces, creating jobs and boosting the local economy," emphasized Ricardo Costa. "This project that we are now undertaking is focused on leisure, also enhancing the tourism aspect, since it will be possible to attract a greater number of tourists to the village of Caldas das Taipas as a result of the excellent conditions we intend to implement in the campsite," further highlighted the president of the Turitermas board.
Through this project, currently underway, the village of Caldas das Taipas aims to establish itself as a partner in Guimarães' bid to become the European Green Capital, through intelligent, inclusive and sustainable growth that enhances its natural heritage.
With the new project underway, following the renovation of the Thermal Baths building and the establishment of a Health Clinic, the president of Turitermas emphasizes the "principles" and "strategic guidelines" he presented to the community when taking on this challenge. "We have always had very clear and objective ideas about the path to follow to contribute to a better quality of life for people. This is the natural, and obligatory, challenge for those who serve the people and public causes. We don't sell dreams or illusions. And those who think this path was easy are mistaken, because in reality we had to overcome many obstacles to reach this level, in the name of an institution like Turitermas that has established itself locally, nationally, and even internationally," highlighted Ricardo Costa.
