Approximately 200 kilometers separate the town that is home to Taipas Termal and the municipality of O Carballiño (Galicia – Spain), the location of the first forum promoted by the Atlantic Axis association.
The President of the Taipas Turitermas Cooperative, Dr. Ricardo Costa, attended the Thermal Forum held in that city, a member of the Atlantic Axis. Based on the latest proposal from the mayor of Carballiño, Francisco José Fumega Piñero, the forum, promoted by the cross-border association comprised of the Galicia and Northern Portugal regions, aimed specifically at creating a thermal network for the Euroregion, as well as actions to be developed in the coming years.
Thus, a Commission was formed that will work from the strengthening of contacts with Universities, promoting the credibility of thermal water among them; in the training of human resources or specialized personnel in the area of Thermalism; in increasing loyalty and visibility; in joint promotion, through the thermal network; in applying for European funds; and in legislation.
In addition to the presence of the President of the Taipas Turitermas Cooperative and other representatives of thermal spas in Galicia and northern Portugal, the first forum was attended by mayors, councilors and representatives from the municipalities of Lobios, Mondariz, Lugo, Ourense, Ribadavia, Caldas de Reis and Verin, from Galicia; as well as from Guimarães, Santa Maria da Feira, Chaves, Vidago, Resende, Melgaço and Santo Tirso, from Portugal.
