Taipas Termal holds its first medical meeting.

Within the framework of Taipas Termal's dynamics, following the various investments and improvements carried out by the Cooperative, the first medical meeting was held on April 9th, with the aim of sharing with the local medical community the various skills and expertise available, as well as the new facilities and conditions of the renovated building.

The event was organized by Dr. Nuno Dias de Castro, Hydrologist and Clinical Director of Thermal Medicine. The President of the Cooperative, Dr. Ricardo Costa, opened the meeting, followed by presentations by doctors Dr. António Castro e Cunha, Physiatrist and Clinical Director of the Medical Health Clinic, Dr. Elisabete Alves and Dr. César Lima e Sá, hydrologists, and also Dr. Fausto Fernandes, otolaryngologist, all doctors from Taipas Termal.

The following topics were addressed in the various presentations:

  • Dr. António Cunha discussed the Physical Examination of the Shoulder, its pathologies, and indications for Physiatric treatment.
  • Dr. Fausto Fernandes provided a theoretical overview of rhinitis and sinusitis, as well as their medical and surgical treatment.
  • Dr. Nuno Dias de Castro provided a historical overview of the Taipas Thermal Baths, their therapeutic indications, and the various treatments available to hydrologist physicians.
  • Dr. César Lima Sá discussed the indications for thermal therapy in the area of ​​rheumatic diseases and some scientific studies that support the evidence of its successful use.
  • Dr. Elisabete Alves presented treatments for respiratory diseases, as well as some of the research that supports their success.

Respiratory, osteo-myo-articular, and dermatological pathologies that are indications for thermal treatments were highlighted, concluding that it is yet another therapeutic option to be associated with existing treatments.

In the end, the benefits of thermal water in the treatment of various pathologies became evident, as well as the diverse possibilities and complementarity that Taipas Termal represents for the local medical community, given its current offerings in the health sector, not only with its thermal wing but also with the Health Clinic, where the equipment and medical staff stand out.
